Abstract: A retrospective review of 2348 patients were done who had attended to the OPD of ophthalmology department,MKCG Medical College Berhampur over a period of 1.5 months. The needed informations were taken from patients medical records. Out of 2348 patients 1364(58.1%) were male and 984(41.9%) were females with male to female ratio of 1.38:1.Refractive error (39.26%) was found to be the commonest ocular morbidity followed by conjunctival disorders (15.33%), cataract (14.6%), corneal disorders (10.52%), posterior segment disorders (5%), miscellaneous (4.77%), lid disorders (4%), trauma (3%), glaucoma (1.75%), and squint (1.15%). The study shows exceeding number of male patients than females which implies that females are less aware about their health problems and also ignorance and education is an important causative factors. The leading causes of ocular morbidity in our study were refractive error, conjunctival disorder, cataract and corneal disorders..

Abstract: Anatomy of coronary arteries and its variation is significant for proper interpretation of coronary angiographies as well as for procedures like surgical myocardial revascularization. Dominance pattern of heart has important clinical significance. Left dominance is found to have significantly higher mortality than right dominance and the balanced pattern, as major part of the heart is supplied by LCA in such cases [5]. In right dominant heart where the RCA supplies AV node, an occlusion of RCA will have higher risk of AV block [6]. Balanced pattern is associated with less mortality. In this present study we aim to study the dominance pattern in coronary arteries by tracing the origin of posterior interventricular artery (PIVA). 100 adult human hearts irrespective of age, sex, socio economic status.... .

Abstract: Dermatoglyphics is the scientific study of fingerprints, epidermal ridges and different patterns of epidermal ridges. Dermatoglyphs are the patterns or configurations of epidermal ridges on polar aspects of hand and feet. The present study aims to analyse the dermatoglyph in congenital heart diseases and compare them with that of normal controls. 100 children with congenital heart diseases were used as cases and 100 children without any history of cardiac illness were included in the study. Children having congenital heart diseases proven by clinical, ECG & 2D echo are included in the study. Children with deformities of hand are excluded from the study. Their dermatoglyphs analysed and discussed. Variations in the percentages of finger tip patterns, increased frequency of hypotenar patterns and wide atd angles are assosciated with certain forms of congenital heart diseases. This supports the view that some of the cardio vascular anamolies are genetically determined. So dermatglyph analysis may be used as a screening procedure for idenitifying congenital heart diseases.

Abstract: Introduction: The purpose of the study was to compare the antimicrobial efficacy of crude papaya extract with 5.25% Sodium hypochlorite(NaOCl) and 2% Chlorhexidine(CHX) against Enterococcus faecalis and Candida albicans at 1 min, 5 min and 15 min time intervals. Methods: #72 absorbent paper points were immersed in experimental suspensions (E. faecalis and C. albicans) for 5 mins and placed on test tubes to cover with irrigants (NaOCl, CHX, papaya extract, and distilled water. Distilled water was used as negative control. At 1 min, 5 mins and 15 mins intervals, 18 absorbent points for each irrigants were removed from contact with irrigants, individually transported to immerse in Letheen broth and incubated at 37ºC for 48 hr. Microbial growth was analyzed by...........

Abstract: Occlusion is defined as "manner in which the upper and lower teeth intercuspate between each other in all mandibular positions and movements". The development of occlusion is based on the neuromuscular control of the components of the mastication system namely: teeth, periodontal structures, maxilla and mandible, temporomandibular joints and their associated muscles and ligaments. It may lead to gingival recession, mobility of teeth and tooth wear. One such consequence that affects the young individuals was the tooth wear. The aim of the study was to correlate the prevalence of tooth wear among young individuals with malocclusion. The individuals of age group 18-25years (1000students) were included in the study. Out of 1000 Students, 500 were males and 500 were females........

Abstract: Mass in the abdomen by reason of their wide spread implications, has since long exercised the minds of many workers. Mass in the right iliac fossa is not an uncommon entity. Pandora's box-hackneyed phraseology is apt in case of mass in the right iliac fossa. Patient with mass in the right iliac fossa may confront the surgeon, paediatrician obstetrician and gynecologist. Thorough understandings of the anatomy and pathological processes that may occur within the abdomen are essential for an accurate diagnosis and plan of treatment. Some patients will require immediate surgical intervention, whereas others will improve with conservative treatment. The purpose of the present study is to recognize certain well defined clinical entities, in mass in the right iliac fossa, the relative.......

Abstract: Objective: An attempt is made to histologically and morphologically study the development of colon in foetuses of different gestational ages at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal and to compare the findings with those described in the literature. Methods: Fifty foetuses of different gestational ages ranging from eleven weeks to term were fixed for two weeks and dissected. The length, development and position of different parts of colon were charted. Sections were made of the parts and stained with haematoxylin eosin, Masson's trichrome, plasma stain, Van Giesons stain, Cresyl fast violet stain and were studied for development of various layers of colon. Result:Return of the.......

Abstract: Introduction: The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation between vertical facial pattern and dental arch forms in different types of skeletal malocclusion. Materials and Methods: The study comprised of 90 pretreatment (lateral cephalogram, dental cast and photographs) aged between 11-38 years full permanent dentition without agenesis and/or tooth loss except third molar. The evaluation of the dental arch form was performed using a computer analysis (AutoCad). Results: Assessment of interexaminar reliability analysis was performed using Kappa statistic. Pearson correlation was used to analyze the dental arch form and facial vertical dimensions and the differences between the three groups were identified through an analysis of variance (ANOVA). Conclusion: As the form of dental arches is associated with the vertical growth patterns, it would be desirable to use individualized arches for each patient.
