Abstract: Finger print (dactylography / dermatoglyphic) is considered as the best tool of identification. Fingerprint evidence is undoubtedly the most reliable and acceptable evidence till date in the court of law. Due to the immense potential of fingerprints as an effective method of identification an attempt has been made in thepresent work to analyze their correlation with gender and blood group of an individual. This prospective study was carried out over a period of 6 months among 300 medical students belonging to the agegroup of 18- 25 of College of Medicine &Sagore Dutta Medical College, West Bengal, India. Results show that each finger print is unique; loops are the most commonly occurring fingerprint pattern while arches are the least common. Males have a higher incidence of whorls and females have a higher incidence of loops. Loops are predominant in blood group A, B, AB andO in both Rh positive and Rh negative individuals except in O negative where whorls are more common..

Abstract: Aim: The aim of the present study is to compare accuracy and dimensional stability of two different elastomeric impression materials, with respect to obtaining multiple casts at various times of pours. Materials and methods: A master die was prepared with specific dimension and impression was made using two different elastomeric impression materials and the impression was poured at various time periods. Casts thus obtained were evaluated under a CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) to evaluate various dimensional changes. Results: Addition silicones provided dies which were shorter in height and bigger in diameter in 2nd and 3rd pour. Condensation silicones showed insignificant changes from the master die at the Immediate pour but deteriorated rapidly after that in subsequent pours. Conclusion: None of the two impression material showed a consistent behavior up to the third pour They occasionally showed deviation from the pattern, but all these values were almost statistically insignificant.

Abstract: Gastric metastasis from ovarian cancer is rare and usually occurs in advanced stages. We describe a case of a 61-year-old woman who presented with a solitary gastric submucosal tumor years after the diagnosis of a stage IIIC ovarian serosal and papillary carcinoma. Endoscopy showed a submucosal lesion covered with an ulcerated gastric mucosa. Biopsy revealed an adenocarcinoma of unknown origin. The patient underwent a distal gastrectomy and the final histological exam confirmed the diagnosis of gastric metastasis from ovarian serous adenocarcinoma. We concluded that gastric submucosal tumors in patients with a history of ovarian cancer, must suggest the secondary origin of these lesions.

Abstract: There is an increase in the prevalence of Type 2 Diabetes mellitus and its complications worldwide as well as in India. Type 2 Diabetes mellitus is no longer considered a mature onset disease. Trends from last two decades and even current trends have shown that Type 2 Diabetes and its complications can occur in younger age groups as well, than earlier believed. Type 2 Diabetes patients with Diabetic nephropathy and background hypertension have excessive cardiovascular mortality. It is thus important to know the distribution and prevalence of electrocardiographic changes in various age groups occurring in patients of Diabetic nephropathy especially in...........

Abstract: Augmentation of the maxillary sinus floor is well accepted surgical procedure for the placement of dental implants in the posterior atrophic maxilla. When the procedure is complicated by perforation of the sinus membrane, the proper management of the perforation is important as it can threaten the coverage of the graft materials. In this case report, we describe a technique for repairing a perforation of the sinus membrane by suturing the membrane and placing the GTR membrane over it followed by immediate placement of the implants. We observed 100% success rate of the immediate implants placed with sinus bone grafting in the patient whose membrane was perforated. Suturing the..........

Abstract: MTA, a hydraulic cement that sets in the presence of water, is used as a root-end filling material but its antibacterial property is not ideal against E. faecalis which are mainly found in retreatment cases. The aimof the study is to determine whether substitution of different concentrations of Chlorhexidine or TAP (triple antibiotic paste) solution in place of sterile water as a mixing agent will enhance the antimicrobial activity of MTA. Samples of Pro root MTA were prepared by mixing with different concentrations of triple antibiotic solutions and chlorhexidine respectively. The antibacterial efficacy was studied by placing MTA samples in BHI agar infused with bacteria E faecalis (ATCC 29212)and zone of inhibition was measured. All samples exhibited antibacterial activity. The antibacterial activity between the groups differed statistically(p=0.001). TAP solution has better results amongst all groups. The antimicrobial activity of MTA was enhanced significantly when mixed with TAP than CHX and water..

Abstract: Heterotopic pregnancy is considered when both ectopic and intra-uterine pregnancies occur at the same time. Even though it is a rare occasion, it can be fatal. It is the leading cause of maternal mortality in the first trimester. To prevent the associated mortalities, physicians need to know the typical presentation and manage the case properly. It is well documented that ectopic pregnancy has a strong association with assisted reproductive technology in terms of treatment. Both Surgical & medical options of treatment are available depending on the clinical scenario. Here we present a case of heterotopic pregnancy in a 26-year-old female after eleven weeks of amenorrhea that associated with a scanty painless vaginal bleeding. Diagnosis was made by ultrasonography and surgical treatment of both pregnancies were done Successfully with no notable complications..
