Abstract: Introduction : Acute pancreatitis is commonly caused by alcoholism and gallstone in our part of the world. The presentation varies from mild abdomen pain to septic shock with multi organ failure. Since there is no specific treatment for acute pancreatitis it is very important to predict its severity at the time of onset itself which may caution the medical professionals to give intensive care to the particular patient. Aims and objectives: Aim of our study is to compare two different scoring systems namely BISAP scoring and MCTSI scoring in acute pancreatitis and to conclude as to which one is cheaper and better in predicting the severity of the disease. Materials and......

Abstract: Iron deficiency anaemia is the most common nutritional deficiency in women of reproductive age[1] India has high prevalence of anaemia in pregnancy according to WHO[1]. Anaemia is a major contributor to maternal mortality. The effects of iron deficiency anaemia in pregnancy during antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal period are very much significant. These women suffer from fatigue, cardio respiratory problems, risk of haemorrhage, infections and even death. [2] The fetus of the iron deficient woman also may not be spared and is at risk of preterm PROM, intrauterine growth restriction, stillbirth, low birth weight, and even poor growth trajectory after birth. Abstract: Cervical carcinoma is the third most common gynecological malignancy ( after endometrial and ovarian carcinoma ) and is typically seen in younger women , often with serious consequences. MR imaging has become essential in the pretreatment evaluation of the extent and depth of disease to help decide the appropriate management strategy and indicate prognosis. The multiplanar capabilities and excellent soft-tissue contrast on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the pelvis provide superb depiction of the female pelvic anatomy and often lead to specific diagnosis without ionizing radiation. MRI is often used as a problem-solving tool in patients where ultrasound is inconclusive or suboptimal. It is optimal for evaluation of important prognostic factors such as lesion volume and metastatic lymph............

Abstract: Introduction: Intramuscular myxoma is a rare benign soft tissue tumor of the musculoskeletal System. The reported incidence is varying from 0.1 to 0.13 per 100,000 population. Most patients present between the fifth to seventh decades of life. The tumor commonly occurs in the large muscles of the thigh, shoulder, buttocks and arms. The tumor can be diagnosed with certainty only with histopathological examination. Post surgical recurrence is rare. Case report: A 60 year old female presented with a swelling of the anteromedial aspect of middle third of right thigh measuring about 6×10 centimeters. She was thoroughly investigated and tumor surgically excised. The excised lesion was found intramuscular..........

Abstract: Odontomas are nonaggressive, hamartomatous developmental malformations composed of mature tooth substances and may be compound or complex depending on the extent of morphodifferentiation or on their resemblance to normal teeth. Among them, complex odontomas are relatively rare tumors. They are usually asymptomatic in nature. Occasionally, these tumors become large, causing bone expansion followed by facial asymmetry. Odontoma eruptions are uncommon, and thus far, very few cases of erupted complex odontomas have been reported in the literature. Here, we report the case of an unusually large, painless, multiple odontoma located in the palatomaxillary region.

Abstract: There has been extensive development in the field of dental implants and metal free ceramics in the recent years1,2,3.Despite this, metal ceramics still remains a good option for fixed restorations due to many factors including its mechanical properties4,5.Dental laboratory procedures used for many decades involves sintering of several dental porcelain layers on metal coping substrate to achieve excellent esthetic results. But this procedure is time consuming . Several studies investigating an alternative approach resulted in the evolution of more rapidly hot pressing ceramic 6.The press on metal technique enhances cohesion of porcelain7. This technique allows for full contour ceramic wax up as opposed to more technique sensitive layering method8. The marginal fit was comparable with conventional layering technique. Hence the purpose of this study was to compare the efficacy of the new press on metal method of ceramic application with the conventional sintering method..........

Abstract: Oncocytoma or oxyphilic adenoma is defined since the classic works of Hamperl as a benign tumor exclusively composed of oxyphilic cells ; the large eosinophilic cuboidal to columnar cells with more than 60% of their cytoplasm occupied by mitochondria. Oncocytomas are 1-2% of salivary gland neoplasms, hyalinsed oncocytoma with calcification is still rare. We report a case of 60 year female with swelling at the submandibular area since 4 months which was progressively increasing, and was non tender .fine needle aspiration was not done. Subsequently a biopsy was received in the pathology department which was clinically suspected to be submandibular lymph node but on microscopy it was diagnosed as hyalinised oncocytoma of parotid gland.

Abstract: Clopidogrel is thienopyridine inhibitor of the platelet P2Y12 adenosine diphosphate (ADP) receptor. Clopidogrel is an agent that irreversibly inhibits adenosine diphosphate (ADP) induced platelet aggregation.1The interaction of ADP with the platelet P2Y12 receptor induces platelet shape change, reversible aggregation, initial glycoprotein (GP) IIb/IIIa activation, phospholipase C activation, and calcium flux.1Regular use of clopidogrel (75mg daily) can produce 40-50% inhibition of adenosine diphosphate induced platelet ag-gregation.1,2 This function makes it one of the drugs of choice for secondary stroke prevention, and also part of dual antiplatelet therapy in patients undergoing angioplasty and/or stent placement and acute coronary syndromes. The evidence supporting.........
