Abstract: Introduction: Intestinal malrotation comprises a spectrum of rotational abnormalities that may lead to a variety of clinical symptoms in neonates, infants, and older children. Embryologically, intestinal nonrotation and incomplete rotation occur due to a narrow base of the mesentery. Materials and Methods: This study was conducted in the Department of Paediatric Surgery, R.G Kar Medical College, Kolkata. The following technique has been adopted in all cases. The child is placed in a supine position. To avoid slipping during tilting the operation table, patient's legs are fixed with the table by adhesive tapes. The laparoscopic trolley containing monitor, camera-unit, insufflator, light source & power sources (monopolar , bipolar &.........

Abstract: The tibial shaft is one of the most common sites of open fractures of all the open fractures, 63% are seen in the tibia alone. Ramon Gustilo has laid down the foundations of open fracture management; thorough debridement and irrigation, fracture stabilization, early soft tissue coverage and rehabilitation. The optimum treatment for open fractures of the tibia remains controversial; treatment options include closed reduction and cast immobilization, open reduction and fixation either with plate or external fixators and closed reduction with intramedullary nailing. With the advent of image intensifier, high-class antibiotics and meticulous debridement technique, stabilization of fractures, and soft tissue cover many orthopaedic surgeons are now using intramedullary interlocking nailing..........

Abstract: Aim:To report on a young, active population with symptomatic lumbar disc herniations who had failed a reasonable trial of non-operative care and then underwent micro-discectomy. Validated outcome measures, patient satisfaction, and return to duty were correlated with type and level of herniation to determine clinical success.Materials and methods: 36 patients with clinically diagnosed disc herniationswho were subjected to micro-discectomy were analyzed for the outcome using VAS (Visual analogue score) and OPDS (Oswestry Disability Index scoring) pre and postoperatively. Results: There was a significant difference in type of disc herniation (p=0.008). However there..........

Abstract: Gingival recession is the exposure of root surfaces due to migration of gingival margins apical to the cement-enamel junction. The etiology of gingival recession is considered multifactorial and its prevalence increases with age. Periodontal plastic surgery deals with regenerative procedures designed to restore form, function and enhance esthetics. There are various techniques for root coverage. The correction of class I and II gingival recessions are presented as a means of minimizing surgical trauma and achieving predictable aesthetic results. In this case report, I present a technique in treating gingival recession by using the Tunnel subepthelial connective tissue graft.

Abstract: Introduction: Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) is public health problem world wide . It is one of the most common forms of liver diseases, affecting 2.8-24% of the population. It is also currently the most common cause of abnormal liver function tests and is recognized as a major cause of cryptogenic cirrhosis of liver. Methodology: A cross sectional was conducted in the rural area o for a period of one year w.e.f., 1st November 2016 to 31st October 2017. Total population of 5150 was covered. 250 individuals aged 30 years were selected using simple random sampling technique. . A 12hr fasting venous sample was taken from each participant to measure biochemical parameters...........

Abstract: Epidermoid and dermoid cysts are benign, developmental lesions that can be encountered anywhere in the body. Literature search does not report any epidermoid cyst location in the palatine tonsils. However we encountered a case of a 34-year-old female patient who underwent a tonsillectomy for diagnostic purposes because of an epidermoid cyst arising from the tonsil which was confirmed by histology.

Abstract: CKD is recognized as a major health problem. Anemia is a well- known complication in chronic kidney disease, thus assessment of safety of erythropoietic drugs become necessary, since it is widely used in the treatment of anemia associated with CKD. CTCAE criteria grades condition of a patient on the basis of symptoms. The aim of present study is to evaluate the adverse effect of Erythropoietin according to CTCAE v4.03 criteria in patient having anemia in Chronic Kidney Disease. A prospective observational single centered study was conducted on 80 CKD patients in Nephrology department of NIMS Hospital, Jaipur from February. Observed Adverse events of subjects were graded according to CTCAE v4.03. In our study out of total parameters observed 37.38% was found to be Normal, 31.93% Mild, 15.68% Moderate, 12.38% Severe, 1.70% Life threatening. No Parameters.........

Abstract: Occlusal plane is defined as the average plane established by the incisal and occlusal surfaces of the teeth (GPT)1. Although the orientation of occlusal plane is under the control of the clinician, it should be established taking onto considerations the esthetics, phonetics and biomechanical factors. It is generally recognized that vertical height of occlusal plane in anterior region is governed by aesthetic and phonetic requirements, there are contrasting views on the orientation of artificial occlusal plane in posterior region2. Many biometric landmarks and methods have been used over the years for the determination of occlusal plane in posterior region which include:..........

Abstract: Ocular prosthesis is an artificial replacement of the eye which improves patient's psychological status as well as his confidence. An acceptable ocular prosthesis is that which improves comfort and matches with that of adjacent natural eye. Fabrication of custom made ocular prosthesis is a tedious task and may cause distortion at various steps especially during scleral wax pattern contouring and its retrieval.A sequence of steps for fabrication of custom made ocular prosthesis is outlined in this case report with an emphasis on ease of scleral wax pattern retrieval with minimum distortion.
