Abstract: Study was carried out at Malda Medical college, Malda amongst 40 patients of pre- eclampsia to find out role of different oxidative radicals & antioxidants and compared with the levels in same number of normal pregnant mothers. Serum uric acid, MDA(malondialdehyde), thiol status and catalase levels were analyzed. Serum uric acid level was found significantly increased in cases of pre-eclampsia in comparison to normal pregnancy. The level of total thiol which is protective against ROS (reactive oxidative stress) molecules was found to be significantly lowered in the cases pre-eclampsia in comparison to control. No significant changes were observed in catalase levels between the two groups. Serum Malondialdehyde (MDA) were found significantly raised in pre-eclampsia patients than in controls..........

Abstract: Cervical cancer remains the most common cancer in women of the developing world, largely as a result of a lack of screening. The gold standard screening test for cervical cancer, the Pap smear, has been effective in reducing cervical cancer incidence and mortality by identifying precancerous and cancerous lesions; however, little is known about quality assurance practices for gynecologic cytopathology in resource-limited settings. The goal of this study was to document baseline clinical andlaboratory characteristics in the hope of improving the efficacy of cervical cancer screening and informingfuture quality improvement initiatives. Patients in the age group 15-45 and 50-70years with various............

Abstract: Mentat, a polyherbal psychotropic preparation, is mostly used for its memory enhancing property. Only limited studies established that mentat possesses sleep promoting property. The present study was carried out to evaluate sleep promoting property of mentat in animal models of diazepam induced sleeping time. Sleep promoting effect of mentat was assessed in three groups of rats (n=6). The animals were treated orally (p.o.) with 300 and 600 mg/kg of mentat one hour before administering diazepam intraperitoneally (i.p). Sleep latency and total sleep time were used as parameters for evaluation. Mentat exhibits dose dependent sleep promoting effect in diazepam induced sleeping time...........

Abstract: SSIs are associated with an increased risk of morbidity, readmission, intensive care unit stay, and mortality. Hence the need to prevent SSIs is ubiquitous. Several earlier publications have alluded to the benefits of using triclosan coated sutures. Our study adds to the wealth of evidence from an Indian perspective. The present study aims to assess the efficacy of TCS in reducing the incidence of SSI in a tertiary care setting in Northern India and the risk factors associated with it. Methods: This is a retrospective 'real-world' study of 306 patients who underwent surgery and wound closure withtriclosan-coated suture from (month, year) to (month, year) at (Hospital), Jaipur. Incidence of SSI was recorded and association with various factors like age, gende...........
