Abstract: Radial head fractures account for 30% of all elbow related fractures[3]. In complex injuries the radial head is actively involved, being a major structure of the humeroradial joint which constitutes the lateral column of elbow. Its integrity provides optimal support even in presence of medial collateral ligament lesion, or minor coronoid fractures[6]. Thus radial head fracture with greater comminution, if left untreated will catalyse complex functional impairment in which there will be block to prono-supination or flexion/extension[16] . The treatment of mason type 3 fractures have been in debate since decades between fixation or replacement[16,18]. Due to the substantial role.....

Abstract: Background: Tosafe services in hygienic conditions must be made widely available and affordable, so that the stigma associated with providing and obtaining abortions can lessen and safe services can become normal and accepted, abortion is broadly legal, widely available and safe in Indonesia.
Objective: The purpose of this article to discuss iusconstituendum on abortion in Indonesia from criminal law perspective between Common Law System and Civil Law System. In Indonesia IusContituendum on abortion is not directed to legalization of abortion as carried out both in Netherland and USA but tends to be harmonized with therapeutic abortion concept both medical and psychiatric fields.
Material and Method: Systematic review of studies evaluating the prevalence of unsafe abortion in Indonesia.
Results: The public health tragedy caused by unsafe abortion is all the more so because it is largely preventable, by improving the.......

Abstract: BACKGROUND: Rheumatic Valvular Heart Disease (RVHD) is a systemic immune condition consequent to the beta-hemolytic streptococcal throat infection. It is an acquired heart disease. Single/ repeated attacks of rheumatic fever cause deformity of the heart valves, and over 20-30 years, may result in stenotic/ regurgitant valvular heart lesions. Prosthetic valve implants alleviate these patients. Patients with prosthetic valves project a specific challenge to the anesthesiologist due to the risk of thromboembolic events, bleeding and infective endocarditis. CASE PRESENTATION: A 56-years-old female, who had undergone Mitral valve replacement with a bio-core prosthetic valve five weeks ago, because of RVHD with severe Mitral Regurgitation (MR), was posted for 3rd-degree cystocele repair. The......

Abstract: Introduction Pityriasis versicolor (PV) is a superficial fungal infection of the stratum corneum caused by a dimorphic fungus, Malessezia species. It is a common dermatological condition with worldwide distribution and especially prevalent in the tropical region with high temperatures and humidity. Clinically, it is usually asymptomatic with frequent recurrences and cosmetically unpleasant. Methods A prospective cross-sectional study was done in all patients presenting with signs and symptoms of PV. Patients under topical or oral antifungals for.....

Abstract: Objective: To evaluate the influence of different polishing protocols on the surface topography of polyether ether ketone (PEEK) RPD frameworks fabricated by the CAD/CAM technique. Materials and Methods: Six male patients were enrolled in this split-mouth study. All patients had mandibular Kennedy Class I arch form with remaining teeth extending from the first premolar on one side to the first premolar on the other side and opposed by a completely edentulous maxillary arch. Modified polyether ether ketone RPD frameworks were fabricated by CAD/CAM technique. According to the followed polishing protocol, each framework was divided into two sides (2 groups); group I ) right side(: polished using Abraso-Starglanz polishing system, and group II (left side): polished using Acrypol polishing system. Scanning electron microscopy was used for evaluation through Tri-stage scanning; the first scanning was performed before polishing (control), the second.....

Abstract: Background: Adult intussusception constitutes 5% of all intussusceptions. Gastrointestinal non-Hodgkin lymphomas represent 1%-4% of all gastrointestinal malignancies. Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma is the most common lymphoma, while 40% of these tumors arise in extranodal sites. Case presentation: Herein, we report a 77-year-old female who appeared in the emergency department with a two-day history of abdominal pain localized in the right lower quadrant, associated with nausea and lack of appetite. Computed tomography of the abdomen revealed an ileocolic intussusception; however, it did not detect a pathological lead point. A right hemicolectomy was performed. Histopathological report evinced the diagnosis of a diffuse large B-cell lymphoma......

Abstract: Background: Anaplastic thyroid cancer is a rare but lethal type of thyroid cancer.
Case presentation: Herein, we report a 69-year-old male who was diagnosed with anaplastic thyroid cancer. The patient received neoadjuvant radiation therapy because the mass encased the left common carotid artery and infiltrated the left jugular vein. The tumor decreased in size; thus, surgery was performed. The patient underwent a total thyroidectomy with en bloc excision of the neoplasm and the carotid artery, ligation of the left jugular vein, and excision of the lymph nodes. The placement of a PTFE graft restored the continuity of the left common carotid artery.

Abstract: Background: Colonic volvulus constitutes 5% of all cases of bowel obstruction and 10-15% of all cases of large bowel obstruction.
Case presentation: Herein, we report a 73-year-old male who appeared in the emergency department with a three-day history of abdominal pain associated with nausea, vomiting, and constipation. Computed tomography evinced the diagnosis of sigmoid volvulus. The patient underwent an urgent colonoscopy by the experienced gastroenterology team. Endoscopic detorsion was applied, while the gas and faecal particles were aspirated. A soft flatus tube was inserted above the torsion. Sigmoidectomy was not performed due to the patient's severe comorbidities.....

The patient was in the middle of her menstrual cycle. Abdominal examination disclosed deep tenderness at Mc Burney point and positive Rovsign's sign. Abdominal ultrasound indicated a diagnosis of acute appendicitis. The patient underwent an open appendectomy. The histological report evinced the diagnosis of appendiceal endometriosis. Abstract: Background: Appendiceal neuroendocrine tumors are the most typical tumor of the appendix. Case presentation: Herein, we report the case of a 16-year-old female who underwent laparoscopic appendectomy for acute appendicitis. The histological report evinced the diagnosis of acute appendicitis, but it also revealed a well-differentiated 7 mm neuroendocrine tumor located at the tip of the appendix. The tumor invaded the subserosa. The Ki-67 index was less than 3%, and the mitotic rate was less than 2 mitoses/10 high power field. The surgical margins were negative for tumor cells. Conclusion: Simple appendectomy is sufficient for tumors......

Abstract: Introduction- Periodontal dressings have been used for several years as a protection over injured tissue to shield the area from further insult. Several dressings are commercially available. A recently introduced light - cured resin, claimed to be more biocompatible and esthetic, needs a critical evaluation. Aim- The aim was to compare the gingival tissue response following placement of a non-eugenol periodontal dressing (Coe-Pak) and a light cure dressing (Barricaid) after periodontal flap procedure. Materials and Methods- A total of 10 patients with chronic generalized periodontitis requiring surgery in atleast two different quadrants were enrolled for this split mouth study. After periodontal flap surgery, Coe-Pak was placed in the.....

Abstract: Pancreatic tuberculosis is an extremely rare entity, even in tuberculosis endemic areas. It closely mimics pancreatic cancer on clinical presentation as well as on imaging studies. A 58-year-old woman presented with features of obstructive jaundice and abdominal pain. Ultrasonography and computed tomography scan showed mass in the pancreatic head for which she underwent an Endoscopic ultrasound with fine needle aspiration of the pancreatic head. Histological examination of the biopsy showed granulomatous inflammation with caseous necrosis, Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test of the specimen was positive for Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Antituberculous medicines were started and she showed a clinical and biological improvement 2 months later.
