Abstract: Our aim was to study acceptability of PPIUCD in our target population, based on their demographic variables including parity and mode of delivery. Method : The study was conducted at V.S.General Hospital, Ahmedabad from 1stJune,2016 to 31December,2016.CuT 380A was inserted in accepters who fulfilled the Medical Eligibility Criteria and had no contraindications for PPIUCD. They were followed up for a period of one year, and studied the various complaints and complications associated with PPIUCD insertion. Conclusion: Both the acceptance and actual insertion of IUCD were low probably because the use of IUCD is a new concept in the community. Inserting CuT 380 A at 10 minutes after placental delivery is safe leading to the expanding of the usage of IUCD meeting the unmet needs. The expulsion rates would be minimal if it was inserted by a trained provider and placed at...........

Abstract: Case report is defined as a description of a single case of a particular disease. With each passing milestone in the the time line of medical publication era, case reports are losing their ground. Coveted journals are straightaway ignoring this very aspect of medical literature. We hereby try to emphasize on the very importance of case report publications and on why this aspect of medical literature needs a little bit more heed to its credit.

Abstract: Computed tomography (CT) offered the medical and dental community great opportunity to enhance the diagnosis and treatment planning through non-invasive three-dimensional imaging technologies. Initially high radiation exposure to patients, high equipment costs and complexity in image capture and interpretation limited the use of helical CT's orthodontic applications. The advent of cone-beam CT (CBCT) technology in the late 1990's removed many of the hurdles. The clinical applications of CBCT in dentistry are then discussed as evidenced in the literature. Several important applications in different dental specialities are detailed including tooth impaction, TMJ imaging, maxillofacial surgery, jaw defects, dental implant rehabilitation, endodontic and orthodontics..

Abstract: Preterm labor remains one of the last frontier of present day obstetrics. Preterm birth is a condition that occurs in 6.0-15%. of all deliveries and is the most frequent cause of fetal & neonatal death and morbidity. Preterm birth is defined as birth before 37 weeks of gestation. Late preterm births between 34 weeks and 0 days and 36 weeks and 6 days account for about 74% of all preterm births while the very preterm less than 32 weeks has remained relatively constant during the last two decades. The incidence of preterm births ranges between 10 and 15% .and 75% of all perinatal deaths occur in preterm infants. The incidence of PNMR in India varies from 40 and 150 per 1000 births in contrast to 10-20 in the developed countries. Despite advances in perinatal medicine in recent decades, problem of preterm delivery continues to frustrate satisfactory reproductive outcome, with little progress having been made in reducing frequency of preterm births............

Abstract: We aimed at assessing lung function test in pediatric patients( 8-18 yrs) suffering from thalassemia who are on blood transfusion and chelation therapy. METHODS: PFT was done to all the the subjects diagnosed with thalassemia and chest x-ray and echocardiography were done to excude overt cardiac failure. RESULTS: FEV1, FVC, FEF25-75 were less compared to age and height-related predicted value. Of which reduction in FEF 25-75 was statistically significant. FEV1/FVC was increased and the result was also statistically significant. So, the results showed towards restrictive lung pathology. CONCLUSIONS: Restrictive lung disease is a complication during the course of thalassemia which probably occurs due to iron deposition during the course of the disease itself or due to its treatment.

Abstract: The scapula is a large , flat triangular bone which lies on the posterolateral aspect of the chest. From the evolutionary point of view, scapula has undergone modifications especially in its shape. Scapular index has been used to note such modifications. This study was done on 100 dry unpaired adult human scapulae of unknown sex in the Coimbatore Medical College and Government Medical College and ESIC Hospital, Coimbatore. In the present study scapular measurements like length , breadth, infraspinous length and projection length of the scapular spine were taken and parameters like scapular index and infraspinous index were calculated . This indices may help in the comparative anatomy and defining the race..

Abstract: Background: Preoperative assessment for predictors of difficult airway continues to generate quest amongst anaesthesiologists, as that affects the approach to airway management. . Ultrasonographic airway assessment could be a useful adjunct, but at present, there are no well-defined sonographic criteria that can predict the possibility of encountering a difficult airway. Materials and Methods:This was a prospective observational study conducted on 90 patients undergoing elective surgery under general anesthesia. Preoperative clinical and ultrasonographic assessment of the airway was done to predict difficult airway and was correlated with the Cormack Lehane (CL) grade noted at laryngoscopy. The sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of the parameters were assessed..........

Abstract: The knowledge of cardiac dimensions in utero plays an important role in the assessment of the fetus with congenital heart diseases, once these conditions can progress during the prenatal period and lead to severe cardiac decompensation . The four chambered view is now considered to be an integral part of the fetal examination. A normal range for fetal cardiac measurements is a basic need for the sonographer performing fetal sonography.
