Abstract: Acute Appendicitis (A.A) Is The Most Common Cause Of Acute Abdomen And Appendiceal Tissues Are One Of The Most Common Specimens Received By The Histopathologist For Evaluation. The Diagnosis Of A.A Is Mainly Clinical With Right Iliac Fossa Pain As The Most Consistent Symptom. Routine Imaging With Ultrasound And Computerized Tomography Are Advocated To Further Increase The Diagnostic Yield But These Are Not Readily Available In Our Environment. Despite All These, Negative Appendicetomies Confirmed On Histopathological Examination Still Occur Especially In Young Females. Unusual Appendiceal Pathologies Have Also Been Reported. We Present A Clinicopathological Review Of 539 Cases Of Suspected A.A. Seen In Bayelsa State, Nigeria Over 8years With The Aim To Highlight The Age And Sex Relationship, Negative Appendectomy Rate, Perforation Rate And The..........

Abstract: Introduction: Human Reproduction Is A Biologically Inefficient Process As 50% Of Pregnancies Are Lost Before The First Missed Menses And Another 10-20% End In Detectable Spontaneous Abortions. In Approximately 3-5% Of Women This Event Occurs Repeatedly. The Term Bad Obstetric History Is Applied To A Pregnant Lady Whose Present Obstetric Outcome Is Likely To Be Affected By The Nature Of Previous Obstetric Disasters.Previously, Any Couple Who Had Three Or More Fetal Losses Was Under The Purview Of Bad Obstetric History, But This Definition Is Now Controversial.Today, Couples With Even A Single Fetal Loss Should Be Counseled Regarding Further Pregnancy. Objectives:1.To Identify The Various Etiological Factors Functional In Patients With Bad Obstetric...........

Abstract: Aim: The purpose of the study is to evaluate posterior segment abnormalities with B-scan ultrasound in pre-operative cataract patients. Materials and methods: The present study was conducted on 500 cataract patients referred from outpatient departments who were evaluated for posterior segment abnormalities with high resolution ultrasonography. Results:Out of 500 patients,70 patients had posterior segmentabnormalities. Among traumatic group of 50 patients, 32 (64%) had positive posterior segmentabnormalities, while in the non traumatic group of 450 patients, only 38 (8.5%) cases had positive posterior segment abnormalities. Out of the 70 positive cases, 18 (3.6%) had retinal detachment, 13 (2.6%) had posterior vitreous detachment, 17 (3.4%) had vitreous hemorrhage, 9(1.8%) had asteroid hyolosis, 6(1.2%)were posterior staphyloma while intra-ocular foreign body and choroiddetachmentwere found with the frequency of 5 (1%) and 2 (0.4%), respectively. Conclusion:It was concluded that B-scan is a good modality for diagnosing posterior segment abnormalities in cataract patients and thus helps in predicting the visual prognosis.

Abstract: INTRODUCTION Diabetes Mellitus is known to man to be one of the oldest diseases. Chronic complications lead to microangiopathy and macroangiopathy. One of the most common reasons for hospitalization in diabetic patients is diabetic foot ulcer. Around 30% of admissions are accounted for the same. It is well known that the basic cellular and molecular mechanisms that result in wound healing involve cell adhesion, migration, proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis are impaired in diabetes mellitus. In diabetic people wound fails to re-epithelialize normally making them prone to infection. This study was taken up to evaluate the efficacy of topical insulin on wound healing in diabetic ulcers.............

Abstract: Despite lot of researches in the field of stroke, accurate prognostication of an acute attack is difficult. Several prognostic factors like site of infarction, size of infarct, size of the vessel involved, Glasgow coma scale, level of cerebral edema, intracranial tension have been found significant in cerebral infarction. Similarly in cases of cerebral hemorrhage, CT calculated volume of hematoma, GCS, site of hemorrhage etc. are important. One of the prognostic indicators which has gained great clinical interest in recent times is the level of serum ferritin. Initially considered only as a stress response to stroke, serum ferritin now is under research as a prognostic indicator.

Adulte. Sténose.

Abstract: The calcifying odontogenic cyst (COC) was described by Gorlin et al. in 1962 as a distinct entity from other odontogenic lesions. Calcifying odontogenic cyst accounts for less than 2% of all odontogenic cystsand tumors. This paper presents a case report of 40 year male patient present with history of non-tender swelling of left mandibular vestibule area. Periapical and panoramic radiograph showed No bone changes. Excisional biopsy was performed and Microscopic examination revealed odontogenic cystic lesion lined by ameloblastoma like epithelium, numerous ghost cells and irregular calcified tissue. Patient was diagnosed with Peripheral variety of COC. PCOC usually appears in the age group of 40-45 years with no signs and symptoms except non symptomatic swelling, surgical excision is the treatment of choice and presents with rare recurrence.
