Abstract: We Report A Case Of A 39- Year Old Hiv Positive Woman Who Presented With A History Of Focal Seizures Involving The Right Upper Limb With Progressive Weakness Of The Right Upper And Lower Limbs. A Presumptive Diagnosis Of Cerebral Toxoplasmosis Was Made And Patient Was Commenced Empirically On Double Dose Cotrimoxazole And Pyrimethamine. A Brain Ct Scan Showed A Huge Mass In The Left Frontal Lobe And A Histopathological Diagnosis Of Fibroblastic Meningioma Was Made. Patient Was On A Failed Art Regimen At The Time Of Development Of Symptoms.

Abstract: Objective:The aim of this study was to detect and describe the existence and incidence of anatomical variations of the superior mesenteric artery by using dissection method.Materials and methods: 40 cadavers dissected, anatomy department of S.M.S.Medical college jaipur. Results: we found that 77.50% of patients presented a classic anatomy of the superior mesenteric artery, using dissection (cadaveric) method, we found the existence of variations of these abdominal blood vessels in 27.50% of cadavers. Conclusion: preoperative knowledge of such variations on the part of surgical team is exceedingly important to avoid iatrogenic arterial injury, predominantly in light of the increasing number of laproscopic interventions.

Abstract: Background: Burden of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Diseases (COPD) throughout the world is increasing and likely to increase in the future with increasing burden of air pollutants and ageing of the population. It is not only associated with death but also affects quality of life. This study aimed to find the quality of life of patients suffering from COPD and its demographic and clinical correlates. Methods: Hospital based cross-sectional study conducted in two tertiary care centers. Basic demographic details were collected from the 250 participants. Each participant under went anthropometry, skin fold thickness, six minutes walk test, spirometry followed by spirometry with bronchodilator. This was followed by filling of St. George Respiratory Questionnaire, Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), Modified Medical Research Council (MMRC), COPD Assessment Test(CAT) questionnaires. BMI and BODE index was calculated............

Abstract: aims 1. To compare the psychiatric morbidity between groups having different levels of exposure to trauma and differ in the extent of loss suffered following the disaster 2. To identify the socio demographic variables associated with psychiatric morbidity 3. To assess the relation between severity of exposure and psychiatric morbidity Methods: we did a retrospective cohort study which compares the psychiatric morbidity between two groups of tsunami survivors with different levels of severity of exposure and loss. Results: 18 persons in group i (36%) had an axis -1 psychiatric diagnosis compared to 4 persons in the other group (8%). Among the subjects in group –i who received a psychiatric diagnosis 39% had ptsd, 28% had major depression, 16.5% had anxiety disorder and 16.5% had alcohol related disorders. 77% of those with ptsd were females. Among the subjects in group -ii who received a psychiatric diagnosis one (25%) had depression, two persons had alcohol related disorders(50%) and one subject had delusional disorder(25%).increasing age, female sex, preexisting physical and mental illness and exposure to trauma had a positive correlation conclusions: the high rate of psychiatric disorders........

Incisor Position Plays An Important Role In Determining Lip Posture Aim And Objectives: The Aim Of The Study Is To Evaluate The Incisor Position Using Hard Tissue Nasion-Pogonion(N-Pog) Line, A-Line (By Alvarez A.) And Soft Tissue Parameters I.E. Forehead Facial Plane (FFP) And Forehead Midpoint Plane (FMP) And To Compare It With Lip Posture Assessed Using S-Line And B-Line On Lateral Cephalogram.MaterialsAnd Methods: Sample Comprised Of 30 Post Treatment Lateral Cephalograms Of Patients With Class I Molar Relation And Normal Overjet And Overbite. Cephalograms Were Traced Manually And Both Soft And Hard Tissue Landmarks Were Located. Upper Incisor Position Was Evaluated Using N-Pog, A-Line, FFP And FMP. Abstract: Introduction: Incidence of spondylolisthesis in general population is 5-7%. No matter what the etiology is, patients usually have significant functional disability. Few studies have investigated the long term effect of Postero Lateral Fusion on functional outcome. Objectives: To study the efficacy of Postero Lateral Fusion in spondylolisthesis especially in terms of functional outcome. Methodology: From July 2010 to June 2012, a total of 86 patients, operated with Postero Lateral Fusion were followed up and evaluated based on Visual Analogue for Pain (VAS) for low back pain, ODI and neurological deficits..........

Abstract: Background: Elderly people are more vulnerable to diseases and are likely to utilize a significant proportion of health care facilities. This study examines the pattern of utilization of health care facilities by the elderly people of rural India. Methods: The observational cross-sectional study was carried out in the rural field practice areas of a medical college hospital over a period of one year on 660 individuals using a pre-tested questionnaire administered in their own language which was administered by the first author during a face-to-face interview. Results: There were 336 (50.91%) males in our study. The most common ailment that the.............

Abstract: Blunt Trauma Can Result In Indirect Scleral Rupture With Subsequent Dislocation Of The Crystalline Lens In The Subconjunctival Or Subtenon Space. There Are Evidences That Timely And Effective Intervention Can Ensure Good Visual Recovery. Blunt Trauma Has Protean Ocular Manifestations With Phacocele Being A Rare Event, Resulting From Indirect Scleral Rupture Of The Globe. The Eye Has Been Described To Behave Like An Incompressible Sphere Because Of Its Liquid Contents. Hence, Blunt Trauma Of Sufficient Magnitude Can Result In Rupture Of The Eyeball Either At The Site Of Impact (Direct) Or In A Remote Area (Indirect). This Indirect Rupture Of Sclera Leads To Dislocation Of The Crystalline Lens Into The Subconjunctival Or Subtenon Space. We Report A Case With Traumatic Phacocele With An Aim To Evaluate The Clinical Presentation, Management And Visual Outcome.

Abstract: The success of the endodontic treatment depends on instrumentation and obturation of all the canals present in the involved tooth. We report two cases presented to the Government Dental College, Kozhikode, Kerala, India with pain in the left maxillary first molar. After diagnosis, root canal treatment was started. The access cavity was opened and the canals were negotiated under a Dental Operating Microscope (DOM). Mesiobuccal, Distobuccal and Palatal roots of maxillary first molar with three, two and single canals were found. This variation in the canal anatomy was confirmed with Cone-Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) scanning. The root canals were instrumented and obturation was done with a permanent restoration. This case report discuss the importance of proper knowledge of the canal morphology, a diagnostic imaging with the three-dimensional image (CBCT) and the importance of magnification (DOM) in the management of maxillary molar with a varied root canal configuration..
