Generally, HIV diagnosis is a traumatic experience that significantly changes a person's life. Immune suppression and as direct effect of HIV on the brain are the most common reasons for neuropsychiatric disorders. Aim: To observe and compare the prevalence of psychiatric manifestations of HIV Positive individuals and other sexually transmitted diseased individuals Material and Methods: This study was conducted in the department of Venereology, King George Hospital, Visakhapatnam. The individuals for the study were recruited on the basis of a purposive sampling. The final sample comprised of 100 individuals, Positive individuals and other sexually transmitted diseased individuals, divided into two groups of 50 each. Diagnoses were generated......

Abstract: endometriosis is defined as the presence of functioning endometrial tissue outside the endometrial cavity. The presence of this tissue at the incisional site is rare and usually follows the obstetrics and gynecological surgeries. The incident reported is less than 1 %. The presence of the endometrial glands and stroma on the microscopic examination confirms its diagnosis. Here we report a case of 28 years old women, who underwent caesarean section, a year back and developed scar endometrioma on either side of the stich line..

Abstract: This hospital based prospective study highlights the point prevalence of congenital malformations over a period of 6months. Over all incidence calculated is 2.2%. Malformations more in females (F: M=1.2:1), and in neonates ofyounger mothers 18-21 years. The pattern included CNS 28.5%, CVS 24.6%, GIT14.2%, musculoskeletal 11.6%,multiple congenital anomalies 9.8%, chromosomal anomaly 7.7%, and Genitourinary 2.4%, RS 1.2%. In CNS,meningomyelocele was the most common malformation. Frequency is more in term than in preterm (1.7% vs. 0.5%),vaginal delivery than LSCS (1.35 VS 0.9 %.) The present study stresses upon the importance of thorough clinicalexamination of neonate at birth and encourage routine neonatal screening for malformations during NB period

Abstract: Introduction: The ideal treatment for pilonidal sinus should ensure low pain, short hospitalization period, low risk of complication, rapid return to normal activities, and should have a low recurrence rate. The aim of the study is comparison between excision with simple primary closure and excision with limbergs flap reconstruction in pilonidal sinus disease. Materials and Methods: The study was conducted in Government Medical College/Hospital, Anantapuram from January 2015 to October 2017 taking population size as 60, with two groups. Group A including 30 patients undergoing simple excision with primary mid line closure and, Group B including 30 patients undergoing rhomboid excision with LF reconstruction. Operative time, postoperative pain, duration of hospital stay.........

Abstract: Acute pancreatitis (AP) is a dreaded emergency in clinical practice. Though most of them undergo uneventful recovery in uncomplicated variety, various complications are encountered in the course of illness which may lead to prolonged hospital stay and mortality. Present study was undertaken to examine the clinical spectrum of acute pancreatitis and to look in particular for life threatening complications of this disease. A descriptive study with cross sectional design was planned in a tertiary care hospital of Kolkata city, in India. 50 consecutive patients of AP who were admitted to this hospital through one and half year period of time (January 2016-July 2017) were enrolled. The data was collected with the help of a pre designed, pre tested semi structure schedule. Secondary data was also..............

Abstract: Background- Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is one of the most commonly performed day care surgeries. Although the patients complain of less pain than the open procedures, yet the emanating visceral pain causes significant discomfort. Multimodal analgesics have been tried to alleviate this pain by various routes. Intraperitoneal administration of local anaesthetics is one such modality. Ropivacaine when used intraperitoneally provides profound and prolonged analgesia.Aim- The aim of this study was to evaluate the analgesic efficacy of intraperitoneally administered Ropivacaine in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Materials and methods- Patients were randomly allocated into two groups: Group C (control group n= 50) which received 40 ml of 0.9% saline and Group R (Ropivacaine group n= 50) which received 2mg/kg of Ropivacaine made to a total of 40 ml volume. Postoperative assessment of pain was done using visual analogue scale (VAS) and at VAS>3 intravenous...........
