Abstract: Background: COVID-19 became one of the most rapidly spreading disease in the world, being declared a pandemic in the early 2020. India faced 2 waves of rapidly increased cases, with the omicron variant emerging as a cause for the third wave. While nearly one half of the Indian population is double vaccinated, we still have a long way to go. Clinical observations suggested a possible relationship between the ABO blood group type and COVID-19 infection and severity rates. However, there is not much data on the Indian population, hence this observational study was conducted to assess the possibility of this said relationship, and guide further regarding its impact........

Abstract: Introduction: Acromioclavicular joint (ACJ) dislocation of Rockwood type-IV to VI is painful and can be treated by surgery using hook plate. The aim of this study was to find the outcome of the surgery done to treat ACJ dislocation using hook plate in Nepalese people. Methods: Retrospective review study of the 37 patients who underwent surgery with the hook plate for fixing ACJ dislocation. Implants were removed after 12-16 weeks, and treatment outcome was measured by UCLA score which had scale ranging from 0-35. Higher the score, better the outcome.Result: Road traffic accident was the cause of ACJ in 56.8% of the patients and the median UCLA score after the implant removal was 30 (27-33). Excellent outcome was seen in 48.65% and poor outcome was seen in only 2 (5.41%) patients. No complication was observed in 58.33% cases while osteolysis was reported in 27.78% and pain was reported by 2 patients. Conclusion: Treatment of ACJ dislocation by surgery using hook plate is effective in Nepalese people.

Abstract: Background: Propofol, Etomidate and Thiopental are often used as an anesthetic agent for electroconvulsive therapy (ECT). ECT involves application of electric stimulus for a brief time in psychiatric patients to induce generalized seizure. The purpose of our study was to compare recovery time from anesthesia. Aims & Objectives: To compare recovery time of patient after ECT with propofol, etomidate & thiopental as measured by the post anesthetic Recovery Score of Aldrete and Kroulik [1], using three different types aforementioned anesthetic/ hypnotic drugs. Materials and Methods: A total of 90 patients in the age group of 18-60 years of either sex, who had to undergo ECT therapy were divided randomly into three equal groups. Group A received propofol 1.0 - 1.5 mg/Kg intravenous (IV), Group B received etomidate 0.2 mg/Kg IV, and Group C received thiopentone 2.0 -3.0 mg/ Kg IV......

Abstract: BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: COVID-19 posed a health care emergency putting a lot of strain on the hospitals . This study determined the duration of viral clearance in upper respiratory tract specimens. METHODS: This retrospective analysis was done in COVID-19 hospitalized patients from a tertiary care hospital, UP. Nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal swabs were obtained for analyzing the viral shedding pattern by RT- PCR. RESULTS: During the study period of two months, among the 691 patients admitted to the hospital the median viral clearance time seen for 63% of patients was around 21 days. Followed by 25% in the 4th week, 3% in the 5th and 2% went on till 6th week for viral clearance. Delayed admissions to the hospital showed severe conditions with worse treatment outcomes.....

Abstract: Background: Endometrial carcinoma is currently the commonest gynaecological malignancy, of which postmenopausal bleeding is the commonest presentation. As of now there is no recommendation for an ideal screening technique in endometrial carcinoma. Hence an efficient non-invasive screening as well as diagnostic tool is the need of the hour as early diagnosis and adequate treatment has been proven to be quite productive in providing good survival benefits. Objectives: Diagnostic evaluation of transvaginal Doppler sonographic study in differentiating benign and malignant endometrial conditions in postmenopausal bleeding........

Abstract: Postoperative vomiting (POV) is approximately twice as frequent amongst children as adults with an incidence of 13-42% in all paediatric patients. [ 1,2] Severe POV can result in a range of complications including wound dehiscense, dehydration, electrolyte imbalance and pulmonary aspiration.[3] It is one of the leading causes of parental distress after surgery and is the leading cause of unanticipated hospital admission following ambulatory surgery resulting in increased health care costs.[ 4,5] Importantly, no research has focused on the children's perspective of postoperative vomiting , and whether they perceive this symptom with the same distress and loathing as adults.[6] Identifying children at high risk......

Abstract: Introduction: Vesico vaginal fistula (VVF) is almost a preventable disease but most of the cases are incurable. VVF is very difficult to treat satisfactorily because it needs very sophisticated and delicate operation in the hands of specialized gynecologist in well-equipped hospital. More over treatment in Bangladesh is costly and time consuming, where 85% people are living in rural areas with minimum health care facilities. So, the objectives of the present study was to find the risk factors and surgical outcome of VVF patients in our context.
Methods: This study was carried out among 60 patients suffering from vesico vaginal fistula who were admitted in fistula unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital. This.....

Abstract: Pituicytoma previously known as Infundibuloma or posterior pituitary astrocytoma, is a rare tumor of the sellar and suprasellar region. This tumor is considered as a benign lesion without any malignant transformation reported to date. Given its rarity, this lesion must be recognized and distinguished from the other most common suprasellar tumors. We report two cases of pituicytomas, clinically imitating a macroadenoma, with a brief review of the literature..
