Abstract: Urinary tract infection (UTI) is one of the most common infectious diseases in a clinical setting [1] It is also one ofthe most frequently occurring nosocomial infections[2] Approximately 35% of all hospital-acquired infections arecontributed by UTI [2,3]. Prevalence of UTI is 3% in girls and 1% in boys [4]. The incidence is greater in women as compared to men due to anatomical predisposition or large bacterial load in urothelial mucosa or other host factors including obstruction in theurinary tract, sexual activity, and pregnancy [5]. E. coli remains the commonest pathogen causing UTI which account for 75-90% and the rest are Enterococcus, Klebsiella, Enterobacter...........

Abstract: Lymphoid tumours are the most common primary orbital malignancy in adults constituting about 10% of all orbital tumors1 and about 2% of all lymphomas.2 Lymphoma represents about 13% of primary malignant eyelid tumors.3 Orbital lymphoma may present as in localized form (orbit, lacrimal gland, lids, and conjunctiva) of systemic lymphoma . Majority of orbital lymphomas are non Hodgkin's type and are seen primarily in adults in the 50 to 70 year age group. Orbital lymphoma can affect the conjunctiva, eyelid, and orbit/lacrimal gland as well as the nasolacrimal drainage system. The reported frequencies of involvement in these sites are the conjunctiva 20–33%, orbit/lacrimal gland 46–74%..........

Abstract: With a number of patients opting for orthodontic therapy for esthetic reasons, it becomes necessary to evaluate the resulting effects of orthodontic treatment on the periodontal tissues. In many cases, orthodontic tooth movement improves the periodontal conditions, and also, periodontal therapy often facilitates orthodontic tooth movement. The orthodontic treatment for the patients need to be carefully planned and carried out in order to prevent unwanted effects on the periodontium. So it is of great importance to determine the need and consequences of interdisciplinary periodontal-orthodontic approach in order maintain harmonious periodontal and orthodontic relation and bring out the best results for the patient. Thus, the aim of this review is to discuss in detail the effects of various orthodontic forces on the periodontal tissues

Abstract: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), a progressive and partially reversible disease, has drawn world-wide attention for its moderate prevalence rate and causing major disease burden. Considering its severity in causing morbidities and mortalities, investigation was carried out to find out the prevalence of this disease and the factors influencing the condition in COPD patients. A total of 1050 COPD patients of both sexes from suburban areas around Chennai were classified according to the severity of the disease based on spirometric indices and prevalence study was done.It concluded that the COPD patients were of almost equally distributed between sexes and the sex-wise incidence of disease was not seen.Further it also proved that, smoking is not only the cause for COPD,the other factors like ETS exposure (environmental tobacco smoking) or parental smoking, biomass (domestic) fuel exposure in women are the other common causes for COPD..

Abstract: Dental caries is an age old disease that has plagued humans ever since existence. The multifactorial etiology of dental caries and the preventive therapies in modulating cariogenic bacteria have witnessed paradigm shifts in the contemporary dental practice. The concept of drill and fill for decayed teeth management is slowly being replaced by novel techniques of eradicating the oral biofilms by combination of concepts of molecular biology and remineralization techniques. In this context, the crucial role of selective inhibition of highly cariogenic bacteria and retention of healthy oral microflora and maintenance of ecological equilibrium has garnered wide spread attention. Several studies by eminent researchers have showed promising potential of novel therapies for caries management. In.....

Abstract: Acid peptic disease is a collective term used to include many conditions such as gastro esophageal reflux disease(GERD), gastritis, duodenitis , esophageal ulcer, gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and other hypersecretory states. Normally gastric acid and pepsin secretion is required for digestion of food. Excessive secretion of this acid and pepsin or a weakened stomach mucosal defense is responsible for damage to the delicate mucosa and the lining of the esophagus, stomach and duodenum resulting in ulceration which is known as "Acid Peptic Disease". In this study, we are going to evaluate the clinical features and upper gastrointestinal endoscopy findings and in patients presenting in our centre in order to come to a precise diagnosis and identify various risk factors contributing to it.

Abstract: Background: Breast cancer is a cancer with the highest incidence in women worldwide. It also has a very high mortalitydue to late treatment. The most common treatment of stage III breast cancer is administration of neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT), which aims to reduce tumor size and control micro metastasis. Immunohistochemical examination is an important factor in determining breast cancer subtypes and subsequent therapy. However, NACT has been reported to change the expression of immunohistochemical examinations of Estrogen Receptor (ER), Progesterone Receptor (PR), Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor-2 (HER-2) and Ki-67 examined from biopsy and mastectomy preparations, so the breast cancer subtypes and its histopathological grading change...........

Abstract: Introduction; Mandibular premolars, frequently considered an enigma to the endodontist, may present the greatest difficulty of all teeth to perform successful endodontic treatment. Owing to its tortuous nature and the variations in root canal anatomy, the mandibular first premolar is quite notorious for its high flare up and failure rates. Advanced modes of radiographic imaging and analysis have allowed for extensive knowledge of pulp space anatomy in three dimensions and identification of rare aberrations. CBCT scanning can help clinicians view morphologic features from a 3-dimensional perspective. The present study was done to evaluate the common root canal variation of mandibular first premolar using Cone-Beam Computed Tomography .Methods; 170 mandibular............
