Abstract: In fire accidents and cremation, fires may reach temperaturesas high as 11500 C. In such circumstances , teeth and bones are the only remains which can help in personel identification, as teeth and restorations are unique to an individual. This "in vitro" study was to observe the effects of high temperatures on teeth restored by (1) amalgam (2) composite/adhesive system, (3) GIC vs. unrestored teeth. 10 un-restored teeth (control group), 10 teeth with class I amalgam restorations and , 10 teeth with class I composite/adhesive system restorations and and.........

Abstract: Lactose intolerance is a common problem worldwide, especially in tropical areas. This study was carried out to see the comparison of prevalence of lactose intolerance and its symptom pattern in rural and urban areas. Fasting blood sugar and blood sugar after 30 minutes of intake of 25 gram lactose was measured in apparently healthy volunteers. Blood sugar level rise <1.1 mmol/l after 30 minutes was considered as positive lactose tolerance test. Specific symptoms like abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting, flatulence, nausea, headache, muscle pain and frequency of micturition were noted from the participants over 24 hour period. Among 133 participants, 57........

Abstract: Laparoscopic surgery is now the gold standard in the management of gallbladderdiseases as for many other surgical conditions.[3] The advantages of laparoscopic overopen cholecystectomy are many as reported throughout the world and includes lesspost-operative pain, earlier return of bowel function, shorter length of hospital stay, earlier return to full activity, improved cosmesis and decreased overall cost.[3-7]Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is however not without drawbacks. Two operativecomplications, namely bile duct injury and complications due to spillage of stone/bilewithin the peritoneal cavity are reported to occur with greater frequency duringlaparoscopic cholecystectomy.[8-10] Several studies have shown that the incidence inspilled gallstones during laparoscopic cholecystectomy is about 5-40% of thesurgeries performed, while incidence of stone loss is unknown........

Abstract: Shivering is a common problem in patients undergoing surgery under spinal anesthesia. Dexmedetomidine and Tramadol have been used to reduce the shivering threshold. The aim of the study was to compare the efficacy of dexmedetomidine and tramadol in the treatment of post-spinal anesthesia shivering as well as to compare their side effect profile. Materials and Methods: A total of 60 American Society of Anaesthesiologist physical status class I and II adult patients (aged 18-65 years) undergoing lower limb surgery under spinal anesthesia and developed shivering received either dexmedetomidine 0.5μg/kg or tramadol 0.5mg/kg intravenously. The response rate, time to cessation of shivering, percentage...........

Abstract: Purpose: To assess knowledge, attitude and practice about DM and Diabetic Retinopathy & to find out the correlation of socio-demographic and underlying risk factor of DM & DR Method: Prospective observational study by fix formed questionnaire regarding knowledge attitude and practice about DM & DR. Results: Most of the study subjects were between the age group of 56-65 years (35.4%) followed by 46-55 years (29.1%). Of the 1414 patients, 1179 (83.3%) had good knowledge of diabetes, 925 (65.4%) had positive attitude towards diabetes, while only 334 patients (23.6%) were found to have good practice patterns. In more than one-fifth (21.8%) of study subjects diabetes retinopathy was present, out of these 16.6% have mild-moderate NPDR and 5.2% have severe NPDR-PDR...........

Abstract: Anterior inter osseous artery perforator flap is a versatile and reliable flap in covering volar aspect of distal forearm, dorsal surface of hand that are classical defects following electrocution and snake bite cellulitis sequel. Our experience with 5 cases done between 2017 t0 2018 as transposition flap and island flap for defects following electrocution, infection and following trauma, was shared. No prior Doppler study was done to locate the perforator in any case. Perforator was present in all the cases. The planning, ease of dissection, surgical technique, reach of the flap and reliability has been discussed. All the flaps survived well..

Abstract: The control of pain in different stagesduringorthodontic treatment is important for orthodontic practitioners and their patients. Following the application of separators, many patients experience pain till the next 24 hours. Usually orthodontists permit their patients to consume analgesics to get rid of the pain. This study compares the effects of pre-operative administration of Ketorol DT and Aceclofenac on pain relief following separatorplacement. Patients were segregated into 3 groups (Use of Placebo,Ketorol DT and Aceclofenac) and pain following separator placement was evaluated using Visual analogue scale.Patients prescribed with Ketorol DT exhibited less pain and discomfort compared with other groups.

Abstract: Introduction:Suprasellar arachnoid cysts are benign developmental collections of CSF and constitute approximately 9% of all pediatric intracranial arachnoid cysts. Objectif:The aim of this study is to demonstrate the feasibility and interest of the endoscopy in the treatment of suprasellar arachnoid cysts. Materials and methods:We report our experience with endoscopic management in 22 patients with suprasellar arachnoid cyst treated with endoscopic fenestration during the period ranged from 2009 to 2018 in our institution. Results:The average........

Abstract: The objective of this study is to characterize the Fibroid masses by using Computed Tomography .Study depend on practical scanning, of 100 patients of uterine fibroid from different area in Khartoum state, with different age, distributionthe data was collected of study found that the most common affectedrelated age was between (29-39) years old (44) Patients 44% .Most common related clinical finding was uterine bleeding. In terms of the location of fibroids in the uterus, the intramural fibroids had the greatest percentage (67%), the subserosalwas (16%) and the submucosal fibroids was (12%) Pedunculated and Interligamentous was very rare in Khartoum state which is that means the intramural fibroids are the most common type with a high incidence rate..

Abstract: Pain management is a major concern for most practicing dentists and poses a problem for pediatric patients as well. There have been many recent developments in the field of local anesthesia for dentistry which can be utilized along with conventional techniques to minimize the pain associated with syringe and needles as well as alleviate the apprehension in patients. A pediatric dentist bears the responsibility of instilling a positive dental attitude among children and these newer techniques, when used exclusively or in conjunction with the traditional method of anesthesia, prove to be quite helpful in meeting the objective of pain control during dental procedures. This review aims to summarize the recent advances in painless local anesthesia techniques as well as provide information to practicing dentists regarding better pain control and patient management..
