Abstract: Purpose: Our aim was to investigate and compare the efficacy of free conjunctival autograft and rotational conjunctival flap techniques in terms of recurrence, complication, and time surgery rates after primary pterygium surgery. Materials and methods: 24 patients who underwent pterygium surgery by free conjunctival autograft or rotational conjunctival graft for primary pterygium surgery admitted to the Pediatric Ophthalmology Department of the Casablanca University Hospital between August2018 and January 2019 were examined prospectively. Patients were categorized into two groups according to the surgical technique applied. The conjunctival defects after pterygium excision were repaired in 10 eyes with free conjunctival autograft and in 14 eyes with rotational conjunctival flap. The two groups were compared in terms of, complications, pterygium recurrence and surgery time. Results: Mean surgery time was...

Abstract: Objective – Current study aims at studying the cerebroplacental ratio in pregnant females with preeclampsia and its role in predicting perinatal outcome. Material and Methods - This study included 93 pregnant females>28 weeks of gestation diagnosed of having pre-eclampsia in routine Obstetric and Gynecology OPD which were sent for fetaldoppler.Doppler evaluation was carried out to measure the CPR.Pregnant females were followed for adverse perinatal outcome such as intrauterine death and neonatal death, cesarean delivery for fetal distress, admission to neonatal intensive care unit, Apgar score below 7 at 5minutes and IUGR fetuses. Results – Studied pregnant females were divided into...

Abstract: The aims of this study were to review the value of ultrasound in evaluating the characterization of acute cholecystitis , to point ultrasound finding which related to it and to explain the risk factors which increase the susceptibility for this disease. Methodology: This study was carried out during A period from January 2019- April 2019 . A total of 50 % patients were investigated by ultrasound machine whom presented to Al- Mostaqbal Hospital Department of ultrasound Radiology Jeddah , Saudi Arabia, admitted to hospital with complain of right upper quadrant pain , Fever bloating , Nausea ,Vomiting and Jaundice. Results: Out of 50% examined samples ,the most affected age group was(older than (60) 36% while the age group ( 50- 60 ) represented the lowest percentage ( 18%). Female patients more affected than Male patients with percentage (60%) and (40%) respectively . The most common symptom was right upper abdominal pain , fever bloating , nausea, vomiting and jaundice (48%) (18%) (16%) (12%)...

Abstract: Ossifying Fibroma, a tumour rarely found in long bones and never reported in lower end of Fibula as in this case and when left it grew to large size compared to the thin profile of Fibula. En-block resection done and the unstable ankle addressed with Primary TibioTalarArthodesis using Charnley's compression clamps. This method provided stable joint avoiding donor site morbidity instead of using proximal Fibula or Iliac bone graft with acceptable range of movements.

Abstract: Background: Soft tissue which is embryologically derived principally from mesoderm functions as a supporting tissue of various organs. Soft tissue tumors (STT) are a group of highly heterogeneous tumors whose diagnosis has posed quite the challenge to pathologists, especially cytopathologist. Despite the challenges, Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology (FNAC) has proven time and again to be the basic initial mode of diagnosis of Soft Tissue tumors. Our study aims to evaluate various Soft Tissue Tumors and their diagnostic pitfalls we have faced in our institute. Materials and Methods: This is a retrospective study conducted for one year from March 2018 to March 2019. A total of 956 cases were referred to department of cytology of which 117 patients with suspected soft tissue tumors were included in the study and their various cytological features evaluated. Wherever possible, histopathological, clinical....

Abstract: Background:Bacterial vaginosis is the most common type of vaginal infection among women of reproductive age group and accounts for one-third of all vulvovaginal infections. The aim of present study is to review clinical evidences available regarding efficacy of probiotics in treatment and recurrence of Bacterial Vaginosis. Material and methods:A total of 160 vaginal swabs were collected from patients clinically diagnosed to have homogenous, copious, white mucoid vaginal discharge. Based on Amselcriteria 100 out of 160 cases confirmed as Bacterial vaginosis. An appropriate oral dose of probiotic supplement for 3 weeks given along with routine antibiotic therapy for 50 patients. The remaining 50 patients were taken as control group. Follow up was done after a month for patients of both the groups. Results:Among the 100 positive cases,44....

Abstract: Introduction: Diseases of skin and mucous membranes are common clinical manifestations of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). Cutaneous disorders are not only associated with terminal immunodeficiency, but also occur throughout the course of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. Materials and Methods: Study was done from 1st January 2019 to 30th September 2019 for 9 months. HIV patients coming to D.V.L. Department, MBNR Govt. Medical College, with different skin and STD problems were registered. They were evaluated taking history symptoms and signs. HIV patients present with skin manifestations and STD infections at various stages of the disease. Results: Most of the skin infections occurred when the CD4 count 50 to 150.Skin manifestations & STD infections occurred with 6 months to 3 years of taking ART treatment.72% are agricultural laborers with extramarital history....

Abstract: Background: Helicobacter pylori residing in antral mucosa often found associated with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Objective : Investigating prevalence of H. Pylori in GERD patients in South Bengal by serology and histopathology. Material and methods : 100 cases selected with 50 controls. Serology done by demonstrating serum IgG . Endoscopic biopsy tissue divided into three portions and subjected to testing for rapid urease test, hematoxylin & eosin stain, Giemsa stain and scanning electron microscopy. Results : GERD commonly found in 26-35yrs with male predominance. H.Pylori was positive in rapid urease in 38/ 100 cases followed by IgG Elisa positivity ( 34) and modified Giemsa (27). 23 cases showed positivity by all three methods. 30 males ,9 females with GERD showed H.Pylori infection. Conclusion :Prevalence of H pylori is low in patients with GERD with statistical significant association with age, socio-economic status but since H. pylori infection considered a pre neoplastic condition; determination of its presence is mandatory.
