Abstract: Hydatid disease is a zoonosis caused by Echinococcus tapeworm. Parasite usually infects the host in the larval stage. The two main species causing hydatid disease in humans are E.granulosus and E.multilocularis. E.granulosus is seen more commonly in the Mediterranean region, Africa, South America, Australian subcontinent especially in rural areas.E.multilocularis is relatively less common. Liver & lungs arethe most commonly encountered type of hydatid disease in humans.(1)The classical radiological findings in hydatid disease are commonly known; however findings when disease complications occur or if disease occurs at unusual anatomic locations are less commonly described in the literature.(2) Hydatidosis of bone accounts for only 0.5% to 2.5%.......

Abstract: Objectives:To assesswhich surgical and restorative alternatives obtainbest esthetics outcomesfor single implant restorations in the anterior maxilla.Methods. Studies were identified with MEDLINE/pubmed, SCOPUS, Web of Science (WOS) and Cochrane CENTRAL. Twoindependent reviewers conducted the study selection, data extraction and evaluation of results.Results:46 articles were included; the review had been recruited 3,641 patients with 3,880 implants, 2,897 implants were immediate, of which 2,029 were flapless and 868 with full-thickness flap. Conventional placement was performed in 1,297 implants, 248 with flapless surgery and 584 with a mucoperiosteal flap. 465 implants placement technique were not specified, immediate provisional restorations were delivered on 2,166 cases while conventional loadings, placed after an average of 4 months from implant placement, were carried out on 2,028 cases. The highest mean pink esthetic score (PES), white esthetic score (WES)values (9.80).....

Abstract:Background: Hemophilias are a group of blood disorders and subdivided into Hemophilia A and B subtypes. These disorders come with a deficiency of clotting factors. This deficiency results in no or delayed clotting mechanism. Therefore, it becomes difficult to perform surgical procedures causing uncontrolled bleeding and thus hemorrhage. So, it becomes important to follow a management protocol, during pre operative, operative and post operative stages.
Case Presentation: A 33 year old male patient reported to the Outpatient department of our institute with a chief complaint of swelling on the right side of lower jaw. He was known case of hemophilia A. On clinical and radiographic assessment, the swelling was found cystic and provisional diagnosis of radicular cyst was given. Since the patient was a known hemophiliac a management protocol was used for preoperative and post operative stages. This protocol was established after thorough literature search and discussion with hematologists. Conclusion: Hemophilia is a bleeding disorder which can lead to serious complications and such patients when undergoing any surgical procedure require a planned protocol for pre as well as post operative periods.

Abstract: Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), a common disease in the spectrum of idiopathic interstitial pneumonia, is associated with poor prognosis.Emerging data suggests that female sex hormones play a role in these inflammatory airway conditions. In our study thirty patients of IPF were compared with thirty age matched controls who comprised of healthy population. Female sex hormonal profile were done with estradiol, progesterone, luteinizing hormone, follicle stimulating hormone and prolactin. In the study there was no significant difference in hormonal levels seen between both the population. The study states that the cases of IPF in females were more common among the postmenopausal age group which may suggest the role of low levels of post-menopausal estrogen, progesterone hormones in the pathogenesis of pulmonary fibrosis

Abstract: Introduction: Gallstone disease is more common in women than men. Pregnancy is a known risk factor for developing gallstones. Both the frequency and number of pregnancies are major risk factors for cholesterol gallstones. New biliary sludge (A precursor to gallstones) and gallstones may form in pregnant women. Gallstones are easily detected with ultrasound. Pregnant women routinely undergo obstetric ultrasound. This study was carried out to find prevalence of gallstone in pregnant women by additional upper abdominal ultrasound screening during routine antenatal ultrasound. Materials and Methods: 600 consecutive pregnant women with.....

Abstract: Introduction: Patients with Spine injuries are commonly seen in trauma and can be fatal, particularly if not identified in a short time. Most spinal injuries are due to Road Traffic Accidents (RTA) and sports injuries. Injuries in this region may produce neurologic defects, sometimes severe and fatal. Materials and Methods: We prospectively evaluated 85 patients with a history of spinal injury and who had undergone MR imaging of the spine from January 2018 to July 2019 were included in the study after informed consent. Inclusion criteria: All patients with traumatic spinal injuries were included in the study. Exclusion criteria: Patients who are hemodynamically unstable......

Abstract: Introduction: Carcinoma breast accounts for 26% of all newly diagnosed cancers in females and are responsible for 15% of the cancer related death in women. It is seen rarely before the age of 30. Thereafter, its incidence rises rapidly. In developing countries, it accounts for 1% -3% deaths. It causes 5,19,000 deaths in a year world wide about 9,00,000 women are diagnosed per year. Incidence of breast cancer is 0.26/1,00,000 in males and 20.01/1,00,00 in females. Materials and Methods: This is a comparative observational study conducted at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences, Ranchi from January 2018 to December 2019, which included patients of TNM stage IIIA and IIIB breast carcinoma, half of whom were treated.....

Abstract: Background: With a quest to prevent morbidity associated with forgotten ureteric stent (FUS), a multidimensional cloud-based stent registry (UroSTENTBOOK, a highly secure point-of-care application) was developed with a multimodal reminder system with voice, SMS and postal letters, which can even be used in regional or preferred language, to track the stents until they are removed. This study evaluated the functional effectiveness of UroSTENTBOOK. Materials and Methods: UroSTENTBOOK was designed for logging stent insertion, scheduling the date of anticipated stent extraction, and confirming....

Abstract: Background:The bacterium Cutibacterium acnes can secrete several bacterial products; lipase is the most important of these enzymes in the pathogenesis of acne vulgaris. It metabolizes sebum; targeting an inflammatory response in skin and rolling the disease outcome. The main aim is to assess lipase activity concerning disease severity. Materials and Methods:A cross-sectional study was held in Iraq from November 2018 to June 2019; Where 50 patients suffering from acne vulgaris were enrolled. Skin biopsies were taken from the patients and cultured anaerobically in Thioglycolate broth.....

Abstract: A 11 year old male patient presented with class ll malocclusion on a class l skeletal base, deep bite and minor space deficiency in the maxillary arch. A non extraction treatment was planned by using pendulum appliance in conjunction with anterior bite plane to correct the deep bite and distalize molars bilaterally. Within the duration of 4 months a total of 4mm space was created distal to maxillary right & left premolar . The treatment was completed with fixed appliance therapy..
