Abstract: Background: In highly resorbed mandibular ridge , rehabilitation of conventional complete denture is not always the best option. Modification in the impression technique or the denture is required not to trigger more resorption in the already resorbed alveolar ridge. In such case, light weight hollow denture is the preferred treatmentoptiontoslowdowntheriskoffurtherridge resorption. Materials and Method :This article shows a simple technique to create a hollowness in the mandibular denture apart from the several techniques given in the literature, by using wire re-inforced suction tube wrapped with plastic cello-tape. Conclusion :Wire re-inforced suction tube wrapped with plastic cello-tape can be used to create a hollowness in the mandibular denture to slow down the severe ridge resorption.

Abstract: Maxillectomy defects can result in oroantral communication that causes difficulty in mastication and deglutition, impaired speech, and facial disfigurement. The prosthodontist plays an important role in the rehabilitation of such defects with obturators. Goal of prosthodontics is rehabilitation of missing oral and extra oral structures with restoration of normal function of mastication, speech, swallowing, appearance etc. Malignancies are common in oral region, which are treated through surgical intervention. Surgical intervention creates anatomic defect which forms communication among the oral cavity, nasal cavity and maxillary sinus. This paper describes a clinical report of fabricating a definitive obturator with a cast metal framework for an acquired maxillary defect. Thus, this definitive prosthesis rehabilitated the patient by providing better masticatory efficiency, improving the clarity of speech and quality of life of the patient

Abstract: The use of dental implants has become widespread and a predictable treatment modality for the restoration of missing teeth. Success of implant dentistry depends on stability of the implant, whether biological or mechanical. Stability are often classified into two types: Primary and secondary stability. Many factors influence primary and secondary stability of the implants which include implant design, implant surface topography, bone quality and patient related factors. Hence it's essential to understand the multitude of things that persuade the implant stability and to research the results of implant therapy. Measurement of implant stability could also be a valuable tool for creating decisions concerning treatment protocol and it also improves dentist patient communication.

Abstract: Currently, there is limited evidence about Theragun. We describe the effect of Theragun on the improvement of back flexibility. After one week of the treatment, there was a considerable reduction in his tightness and improve his flexibility. Hence we propose that Theragun may be considered as the management of improvement back flexibility.

Abstract: Context:An appropriate method for veneering titanium abutment with esthetic material that has sufficient bond strength has not been determined. Various esthetic materials are frequently used to coat the surface of titanium abutment. A pilot study was conducted to assay the effects of provisional surface treatment using etchant and primer between a resin composite and Ti–6Al–4V alloy on bond strength Methods:Discs of Ti–6Al–4V alloy was milled of 6mm diameter and 4 mm in height. The specimen was prepared by air abrasion with alumina and subsequently etching the alloy.......

Title | : | IVORY PELVIS"- A novel radiographic sign |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Dr. Sharat Agarwal |
: | 10.9790/0853-1905024647 |
Abstract: When a patient presents with some musculoskeletal problem, radiological evaluation is undertaken as a common first line investigation modality. Clinicians may get perplexed when a finding of "Ivory pelvis‟ like presentation, so mentioned due to diffusely increased density, is obtained on radiographs, a situation which was encountered by us. We all know that bones undergoes continous remodelling during the life, where both bone deposition and bone resorption is taking place. However, due to some diseases this normal process can get disturbed leading to either predominance of bone deposition manifesting as increased bone density, the causes of which may vary depending on whether the patient falls in pedatric or adult age group or predominance of bone resorption as seen in osteoporosis inducing diseases. Such a finding when affecting vertebrae has been defined in literature as "Ivory vertebra‟ sign. However, we do not find a case of so called "Ivory pelvis‟, which can well be a novel sign to be brought to the notice of clinicians through our case

Abstract: Objectives: To compare the performance of medical students of year 4 in using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 23.0 taught through Peyton's four step approach versus traditional teaching at Shifa College of Medicine (SCM), Pakistan. Methodology: An experimental study including 100 students in Year 4 of SCM was carried out. Fifty students were exposed to Peyton's four step approach while the remaining 50 were taught through the regular teaching methodology practiced at SCM, serving as a control group. All students were assessed on their SPSS skill through a uniform examination. In the end, feedback was obtained from all students in terms of content, structure, presentation and overall satisfaction......

Abstract: Small gut volvulus is a rare clinical entity in adult and patients usually present with recurrent abdominal pain after taking food in the surgical emergency.Often patient develops the features of intestinal obstruction which may or maynot need any surgical intervention. Here we present a 40 years old male patient who presented to us with similar condition with a background of sigmoid volvulus for which he underwent resection and anastomosis 3 years back.
