Abstract: BACKGROUND: Although Fallopian tubes are common surgical specimen in the pathology laboratory, data to describe the frequency of various histopathological findings are lacking. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 439 cases were included in this study, consisting of specimens of fallopian tubes of all age groups obtained by salpingectomy, tubal ligation, salpingo-oophorectomy or along with hysterectomy. The specimens were processed by routine method and histopathological features were studied on Haematoxylin and Eosin stained sections...

Abstract: Background: The emergence and spread of carbapenem resistant enterobacteriaceae in association with conditions like ventilator associated pneumonia which becomes a significant and a major public health concern in the hospital settings. The main objectives of this study is to analyse the microbiological profile of ventilator associated pneumonia in patients attending the tertiary care hospital and study the occurrence of CRE, also to determine the efficacy of modified Hodge test for detection of carbapenemase producing gram negative rods. Materials and method:The study has been conducted for a period of three months with a sample size of 50. The Endotracheal aspirate (ETA) samples were collected with proper aseptic precautions and sent immediately to microbiology laboratory for processing and identified based on standard microbiological techniques. Modified Hodge Test is then performed on positive sample to study its efficacy.....

Abstract: Introduction: Tuberculosis is a major public health problem worldwide especially in developing countries like India. Now a days it becomes more deadly in the form of MDR TB and XDR TB. Aim and Objective: The aim of this study is to correlate between isolates of mycobacterium in GeneXpert, MGIT culture and Ziehl-Neelsen (ZN) staining. It also detects the sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV) and negative predictive value (NPV) of GeneXpert assay and ZN staining. Methodology: This prospective study was carried out in the Department of Microbiology, RIMS, Ranchi, Jharkhand. One hundred fifty two sputum samples from suspected patients of pulmonary tuberculosis were taken. These samples were processed for test in GeneXpert assay, MGIT culture and ZN staining....

Abstract: Background- Topical corticosteroids (TCS)have been widely used in various dermatological diseases. The use of topical steroids on the face should be carefully evaluated by the dermatologists. Aim – To evaluate the different clinical manifestations of steroid dermatitis and to discover the causes behind abusing topical steroids on the face. Methods- In this observational study, 80 patients with facial dermatosis following the misuse of TCS on the face were studied. Detailed history was noted and the various side effects were recorded. Results – majority of the patients (75%) were females with maximum number of patients belonging to the age group 21-30 years. Facial redness and hotness , telangiectasia and rebound phenomenon with papulopustular eruption were the main clinical presentations. The most common cause of using topical steroid on the face were pigmentary problems and acne through recommendations from nonmedical personnel......

Abstract: The study undertaken aimed to answer the following questions. Is antibiotic necessary in successful management of impacted wisdom teeth in healthy individuals? An observational study was undertaken in our institution so as to manage impacted wisdom mandibular teeth in healthy individuals. The study included patients which required both open and closed method. Around 1220 patients were included in the study who were managed without postoperative antibiotics, the results of the study showed that none of the patients landed up with any signs of infection. The results point out that surgeon role, technique aseptic measures also play role in the etiology of SSI and not just antibiotics. This study also underlines the fact that judicious use of antibiotic can play role in reducing incidence of antibiotic resistance
Keywords: The objective was to establish that antibiotic prophylaxis is not essential in successful management of impacted teeth

Abstract: The mutated human corona virus (SARS-CoV-2) of 2019 which was global pandemic is responsible for more than two lakh deaths as of now. The outbreak of SARS-CoV & MERS-CoV in 2002 and 2013 respectively are more lethal and has less ability to spread whereas SARS-CoV-2 is less lethal and has more ability to spread. There are certain differences& similarities in the genomic composition, incubation period and mechanism to cause infection among SARS-CoV and SARS-Co-V-2. Although COVID-19 cases are growing at a faster rate, the transmission rate in India is lower than in other countries. This was achieved by mandated lockdown at federal level to enforce physical distancing as well as mass testing which lead the curve to flatten and are also the key components to decrease the rate of infection and its ability to spread. Even though the Food and drug administration (FDA) approved emergency use drug Remdesivir is available. The disease is also being treated with anti-malarial, other anti-virals, anti-inflammatory and immunomodulators because there is a dearth of vaccine. In this text, a collective information on mechanism, pathogenesis, therapeutic targets, and recommendations of current clinical guidelines are provided.

Abstract: Background: The role of Vitamin D in various metabolic disorders including Diabetes Mellitus has been explored. Vitamin D has sparked widespread interest in the pathogenesis and prevention of diabetes. Aim: This study evaluates the correlation between Vitamin D status and Glycated haemoglobin in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. Material and methods: This study was a prospective case control study with 50 cases and 50 controls. Results: Vitamin D insufficiency was observed in both cases and controls. The mean Vitamin D values in cases and controls were 13.89+6.28ng/ml and 17.30+11.13ng/ml respectively. Chi square test shows there is significant statistical difference in Vitamin D levels between cases and controls but inverse correlation between Vitamin D and HbA1C which was not found statistically significant....

Abstract: Trauma can have devastating effects on all organ systems. Injury to the urethra looks very simple but its complications are so devastating that one may be crippled for whole life. According to Morison (1930) "Rupture of urethra is one of the most serious accident and our skill can prevent the development of stricture. You are presiding at the opening of a life long tragedy". This is true even today. In 1933 Clifford Morson stated that "I know of no case where the urethra has been completely torn across, in which the patient has been restored to perfect health. There may be a long interval between the date of injury and the onset of some lesion in.......

Abstract: pancreatitis is a common disease with many well-known etiologies. with the universally increasing consumption of cannabis, the incidence ofcannabinoid-induced acute pancreatitis is projected to increase. The role of marijuana in pancreatitis is not clearly defined. Studies have begun to clarify the role that cannabinoids may play in this disease process. This case demonstrates the need for further research.

Abstract: OBJECTIVE - To identify the diagnostic role of PSA in carcinoma breast and to evaluate PSA as a valuable tool for prognosis of breast cancer. MATERIAL AND METHODS - The study was conducted on 50 female patients with carcinoma breast and 50 normal females at RIMS, Ranchi Jharkhand. RESULTS- We demonstrated that estimation of PSA in carcinoma breast can be regarded as a marker for diagnosis of breast cancer. Although, free PSA as the predominant molecular form is highly specific and statistically significant (p< 0.005) for breast cancer. CONCLUSION- Hence to conclude from my study is that there is definitely a role of PSA in carcinoma breast and must be recommended to all patients with carcinoma breast.
